NativeLedger privacy policy
Michael Lip provides NativeLedger. NativeLedger works on your Mac. It has no account, analytics, advertising or server. It does not upload inventory, review records or reports, and it does not inspect documents.
Inventory
The app reads application bundle metadata and bounded main-executable headers in /Applications and in folders you add. The inventory cache is stored inside the app's sandbox container and is refreshed when you rescan. Added folders are saved as read-only security-scoped bookmarks in local preferences. Remove a folder in Settings to remove its saved grant. The app can read public running-application architecture information and watch authorized folders for changes.
Update review
You choose one app with the system file picker. NativeLedger saves a read-only, app-scoped bookmark for that app copy only. When you inspect it, NativeLedger reads its bundle identifier, version, main-executable architecture and the signing information that macOS reports for it. That information is the declared signing identifier, the signing team and the declared entitlements. NativeLedger also reads the size, modification time and file number of the bundle metadata, main executable and signature files to detect a change during inspection. Reading signing information is not signature validation. NativeLedger does not launch the selected app or read its documents or data.
Saved review records
Review records are saved in update-reviews.json inside the sandbox container. A record contains the app name, its saved access, the acknowledged baseline, the last complete observation, the latest inspection attempt and their dates. An inspection never replaces the baseline. A baseline changes only when you acknowledge a newer observation. Start new review keeps the earlier record. Choose Remove to delete a record and its saved access. If the review file cannot be read, NativeLedger pauses changes and does not overwrite it. Start fresh first copies the unreadable file to a dated recovery file in the same folder. NativeLedger does not delete recovery copies.
Clipboard
Copy review report places a report on the clipboard only when you choose it. The report contains the app name, review ID, dates, coverage, bundle identifiers, versions, architecture and signing declarations. It omits file paths and replaces path-like values. The older Copy list action places the visible inventory rows on the clipboard. Those rows include each app's file path.
Sample
Sample uses synthetic apps. Sample review records are kept in memory only and are never saved. Sample does not change the saved live inventory or the saved review records. Background scans continue while Sample is visible.
Browser
Browser actions open an app-supplied website or a search in the default browser. The destination receives the normal browser request. NativeLedger does not download or install updates.
