Be ready when the call starts

CallReady is one menu bar item for video calls on your Mac. It shows the next call on your calendar. When a Bluetooth headset takes over the microphone input, or the current input disappears, it puts your preferred microphone back. It also mutes the default microphone with one keyboard shortcut in any app.

The CallReady menu shows the three parts in one status line, for example:

Standup in 4 min · MacBook Pro mic · Muted

Three parts, one call

Next call

CallReady reads the events in the calendars you select and shows the next one with a countdown. When the event has a Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Webex link in its URL, location or notes, click Join. macOS opens that link in your browser or meeting app.

Microphone

When Bluetooth headphones connect, macOS often makes their microphone the default input. CallReady acts only in two cases: the default input is a Bluetooth microphone, or the default input is no longer available. Then it changes the default input to the first available microphone in the order you set, for example the built-in microphone or a USB microphone. It does not change a non-Bluetooth input that you selected, and it skips virtual and loopback devices.

Mute

Press Shift-Option-M to mute or unmute the default microphone, in every app. You can choose a different key in Settings. With push-to-talk, hold the shortcut while you speak and CallReady mutes again when you release it. An optional floating badge shows the mute state.
